This year’s Sturgis Rally Week festivities will not only bring smiles to the faces of tens of thousands of bikers, but also to the kids at the Black Hills Children Home. Schwinn has donated 60 new bicycles and helmets to the Kids & Chrome Foundation to benefit the Black Hills Children Home Society. Donated to enhance the stay of each child in residence at the foster home for battered and abused children, Schwinn and the Legendary Buffalo Chip, Sturgis’ premier entertainment venue and motorcycle travel destination, are co-sponsoring a “2010 Biker Buddy Build-Off” on Sunday, August 8 between 3 and 5 pm to assemble the donated bikes.
Currently, all of the bicycles are unassembled in boxes at the Buffalo Chip warehouse. To facilitate the assembly of the bikes, Schwinn and the Legendary Buffalo Chip are looking for volunteers to assemble the bikes. They are currently looking for two-person “Biker Buddy” teams with big hearts and experience in bicycle assembly that are willing to donate an hour of their time to pitch-in and assemble a bicycle or two for children in need.
Each “Biker Buddy” will receive a special, free commemorative “Biker Buddy” t-shirt from Schwinn and an invitation to a special VIP reception at the Chip’s Event Center where the new bicycles will be on display. In addition, a variety of TV, radio and print media will be covering the local charity event including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno which will be filming throughout the campground.
Providing bikers an array of world-class entertainment, art, vendors, food and amenities during Sturgis Rally Week, the Legendary Buffalo chip is also renowned for its charitable efforts and philanthropic outlook.
